Pure player, no content provider

CouchPotatoPlayer is a pure media player, not an IPTV provider. We do not provide, sell, host, bundle, or promote IPTV channels, playlists, streams, subscriptions, EPG data, movies, series, or provider access.

Users need their own lawful provider access or their own legally obtained playlists. Users are responsible for ensuring that their provider, playlist, and usage comply with applicable law and rights-holder rules.

Provider data

The app is designed so users enter their own provider details locally in the app. The public download website does not ask for IPTV credentials and does not process provider login data.

Download website data

This website provides the Android APK, Android OTA update files, basic app information, and a voluntary player diagnostics endpoint. The update server stores aggregate counters for base APK downloads, OTA asset downloads, and successful OTA manifest responses in its Docker volume.

When a user explicitly sends player diagnostics from the app, the server stores a privacy-safe JSON report with app version, platform, device class, selected playback backend, error classification, stream profile, capability report, and bounded playback observations. Raw stream URLs, query strings, usernames, passwords, and tokens are rejected. IP addresses are not stored in diagnostic reports.

These counters are not intended to identify individual users. Depending on the hosting setup, the reverse proxy or host may still keep standard technical access logs such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent, and HTTP status for security and operations.

Security and updates

Admin access is protected by password, TOTP two-factor authentication, CSRF checks, secure cookies behind HTTPS, upload path validation, and a restricted content security policy on public HTML pages.

Android and Android TV users can install the APK directly. iOS and tvOS users receive builds through TestFlight or App Store distribution.
