CouchPotatoPlayer Support
Current release: 1.1.2 (338).
Player only — no content included
CouchPotatoPlayer contains, provides, sells, or recommends no channels, films, series, playlists, provider access, or subscriptions. You must add your own legally obtained Xtream Codes connection or M3U playlist and hold the rights to access and play it. Support cannot find, recommend, sell, or configure streams, providers, or subscriptions for you.
Supported source types
- Xtream Codes-compatible connections supplied by your own provider
- M3U playlists and optional EPG/XMLTV information supplied by you
Availability depends on the provider, network, container, codec, track layout, and device. No universal provider or format compatibility is promised.
Add a provider
- Open the app and choose Add Provider.
- Select Xtream or M3U.
- Enter the exact server/playlist URL and optional EPG information from your lawful service. HTTPS and legacy HTTP are supported.
- Enter credentials only in the app. Never send them in screenshots or diagnostic descriptions.
- Save, wait for import, then open Live TV, Movies, or Series.
Prefer HTTPS. HTTP remains supported for legacy providers, but the app warns before saving because unencrypted traffic can expose credentials and requests to intermediate networks.
Common network errors
- Confirm the service works in the provider's supported environment and has not expired.
- Check Wi-Fi/Ethernet, VPN, DNS, date/time, and whether the server blocks your device/network.
- Verify URL scheme, port, username, and password without sharing them with support.
- Refresh the provider/EPG after the network stabilizes.
- A timeout, 401/403, empty catalog, or unavailable codec is controlled by different systems; note the exact non-secret error and time.
AirPlay
Sender and receiver must be physical Apple-compatible devices on a reachable local network. Directly compatible media can use the system route. MKV may need local HLS preparation, available storage, and sustained CPU/network capacity.
For favorable H.264/AAC profiles, the app may finish a full VOD presentation before opening AirPlay, providing the best receiver timeline. Profiles requiring video transcoding normally use a growing EVENT presentation. In that mode, seeking is controlled in CouchPotatoPlayer: a new presentation is prepared at the requested absolute time and atomically replaces the item after it is ready. Not every receiver is promised a complete native timeline. Stop AirPlay to restore local playback. Wi-Fi loss can interrupt the temporary session.
Picture in Picture
PiP requires a supported iPhone/iPad, compatible player/source, enabled system setting, and a playback mode that supports it. It is not available on every format/backend and is separate from AirPlay.
EPG help
Confirm the EPG URL and provider time zone, refresh the provider, and allow import to finish. Missing or shifted listings usually originate in the supplied XMLTV/EPG identifiers or timestamps. The app cannot manufacture missing guide data.
Delete data
Delete an individual provider from the provider/settings area to remove its local profile and related data. Remove remaining local app data by uninstalling CouchPotatoPlayer. Disabling iCloud sync or deleting local data does not automatically remove its encrypted backup; use the app's explicit iCloud backup deletion action separately. Deleting the app does not delete data held by your provider.
